PowerUP Circuit Lab: How to Build a Complete PoE-Powered-Device Chain to Isolated 12V

A powered device on an Ethernet cable has to solve two problems at once: accept power without knowing the wiring polarity in advance, and turn that power into a clean, isolated output.

This video walks through a complete PoE powered-device reference design end to end, six stages from raw PoE input to a regulated 12 V isolated output, using real datasheet figures, schematic detail, and bench measurements to show how each stage works and why every component is there.

  • How an ideal-diode bridge controller with FETs replaces a passive diode bridge to cut rectification losses
  • How a power device controller handles detection and classification, and how power class is set entirely by jumpers, no firmware
