TDK Launches 12.5kW Three-Phase Power Supplies.

TDK Corporation introduced the TDK-Lambda TPF12500-385 series, a family of non-isolated three-phase power supplies designed for Distributed Power Architecture (DPA) systems. The units deliver up to 13.1kW, with a nominal output rating of 12.5kW, at a regulated 385V DC output. With a typical efficiency of 97.5%, the supplies are intended to feed isolated high-voltage DC-DC converters or DC microgrids while minimizing conversion losses.

The high efficiency reduces internal heat generation, allowing the TPF12500 to use two integrated fans for thermal management. The resulting architecture combines high power density with a compact mechanical implementation suitable for demanding system environments.

The TPF12500 accepts 360 to 528V AC three-phase input in either Delta or Wye configuration. The wide input range supports deployment across different electrical infrastructures and can eliminate the need for external step-down transformers. Three-phase operation also helps maintain balanced loading between phases, contributing to overall system reliability.

For systems requiring additional capacity, two TPF12500 units can be connected in parallel using droop-mode current sharing. This enables designers to scale available output power without fundamentally changing the power architecture.

The power supplies use board-to-board connectors to reduce cabling and electrical interconnections between the power supply and system electronics. Minimizing wiring can lower distribution losses while creating additional space within the system enclosure. It also reduces potential failure points associated with cable fatigue, loose connections, and vibration.

Applications include semiconductor manufacturing equipment, data centers, radar RF power amplifiers, industrial automation, and burn-in and test systems.

The TPF12500 provides isolated DC OK and dropped-phase signals, remote on/off control, overtemperature warning, and a 13V, 0.2A standby output. An RS-485 interface enables remote monitoring of parameters including input voltage, output current, internal temperature, fan status, and operating conditions.

The supply can cold-start at −20°C and operate at ambient temperatures from −10°C to +40°C. Measuring 202.6 × 111.1 × 711.2mm, the unit fits 3U rack systems.

The TPF12500 series supports IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety requirements and carries CE and UKCA markings. It also meets relevant EMC and immunity requirements, including EN 55032 Class A and IEC 61000-4 standards, and provides 2kVac input-to-ground and output-to-ground isolation. Its construction is designed to withstand high shock and vibration levels in industrial environments.
