ROHM Launches DFN8080 and TOLL Super Junction MOSFETs

ROHM has expanded its Super Junction MOSFET portfolio with the introduction of the R60xxXNx and PrestoMOS
R60xxWNx series, a family of 600 V devices designed to improve the efficiency and power density of modern power conversion systems. The new MOSFETs are available in surface-mount DFN8080-5L and TOLL packages, providing enhanced thermal performance and compatibility with standard industry footprints for applications such as AI server power supplies, industrial equipment and motor drives.
The introduction of the new package options reflects the increasing demand for compact, high-power electronic systems. As AI servers and industrial platforms continue to require higher power levels within limited board space, designers are seeking power semiconductors that combine low losses with efficient heat dissipation. Surface-mount packages also simplify automated assembly while enabling higher power density than many conventional through-hole alternatives.
The new devices feature a gate threshold voltage ranging from 3 V to 5 V, matching the drive conditions commonly used by standard Super Junction MOSFETs. This allows the components to be integrated into existing power supply designs with minimal circuit modifications. ROHM has also optimized the devices’ electrical characteristics to reduce conduction and switching losses compared with the company’s previous R60xxYNx and PrestoMOS
R60xxVNx product families.
Another design objective was to improve sourcing flexibility. By adopting industry-standard footprints for the DFN8080-5L and TOLL packages, the MOSFETs simplify replacement in existing designs and support second-source strategies, an increasingly important consideration for manufacturers seeking to reduce supply chain risk.
The product family comprises 21 devices in the R60xxXNx series, optimized for high-speed switching, and 11 devices in the PrestoMOS R60xxWNx series, which are designed to deliver particularly fast reverse-recovery characteristics. This enables engineers to select devices according to application priorities, whether the focus is compatibility with existing platforms or achieving the lowest possible switching losses.
Mass production of the new MOSFETs began in June 2026. Selected TOLL-package devices (Applicable Part No: R6020XNJ2, R6038XNJ2, R6049XNJ2, R6055XNJ2, R6024WNJ2, R6035WNJ2) are already available through online distribution channels. ROHM also confirmed plans to further expand its Super Junction portfolio with future 650 V products and next-generation MOSFET technologies.
Typical target applications include AI server and data center power supplies, AC/DC converters such as LLC resonant, power factor correction (PFC), and flyback stages, as well as industrial motors, cooling fans, and servo drive inverters.
