Infineon Completes Acquisition of Non-Optical ams OSRAM Sensor Business

Infineon Technologies has completed the acquisition of the non-optical analog and mixed-signal sensor portfolio from ams OSRAM, following the receipt of all required regulatory approvals. Originally announced in February 2026, the transaction strengthens Infineon’s position in the global sensor market by expanding its technology portfolio for automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer applications, while supporting the company’s strategy to deliver integrated edge computing solutions.
The acquired business is expected to generate approximately €230 million in revenue during calendar year 2026 and is anticipated to contribute positively to earnings per share immediately after closing. Beyond the direct financial contribution, Infineon expects the integration to create additional value through operational and technological synergies.
The acquired assets will become part of Infineon’s recently established Edge Systems (ES) division, which combines sensing, processing, connectivity, and security technologies into complete system-level solutions for edge applications. Within this organization, the new portfolio will be integrated into the company’s existing sensor and radio-frequency business, further expanding its capabilities in intelligent sensing platforms.
A key element of the acquisition is the addition of advanced positioning and temperature sensing technologies. These products complement Infineon’s existing portfolio of precision position, capacitive, and temperature sensors used in automotive, industrial, consumer, and medical applications. Typical use cases include chassis position sensing, hands-on detection systems for vehicles, robotic motion control, industrial position measurement, and medical devices such as glucose monitoring equipment.
The transaction also adds mixed-signal technologies focused on medical imaging and sensor interface solutions. These include integrated circuits used in computed tomography (CT) systems, digital X-ray equipment, and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for sensor interfaces, broadening Infineon’s presence in the medical electronics sector.
In addition to expanding its product offering, the acquisition brings approximately 230 employees to Infineon, including specialists in research and development and business management. The transaction also extends the company’s global engineering footprint with three additional locations in Valencia, Spain; Rapperswil, Switzerland; and Hyderabad, India.
The acquisition aligns with Infineon’s broader strategy of strengthening its leadership in sensing technologies as demand continues to grow for intelligent, connected electronic systems. By combining complementary sensor technologies with its existing expertise in power semiconductors, connectivity, security, and embedded processing, the company aims to deliver more integrated solutions for automotive, industrial automation, healthcare, and other edge computing applications while reinforcing its long-term growth strategy.
