Seco, Peridio Simplify Robotics Deployment with Avocado OS

Embedded

Seco S.p.A. and Peridio have announced a collaboration to make Avocado OS, Peridio's production-ready Linux distribution, available across Seco's portfolio of systems based on Qualcomm Dragonwing platforms. The partnership targets robotics and physical AI applications, providing developers with a commercially supported operating system validated on Seco hardware and intended to simplify the transition from prototype development to production deployment.

Avocado OS gives development teams access to an industrial Linux foundation from the first development kit, removing the need to build and maintain their own operating system. This is particularly relevant to companies developing robots, autonomous machines, and other physical AI systems, where maintaining a consistent software environment across development and deployed fleets can add complexity and integration effort.

The initial rollout covers several Seco Dragonwing-based platforms: the SOM-COMe-CT6-Dragonwing-IQ-X, SOM-SMARC-Dragonwing-IQ8, and SOM-SMARC-QCS6490. The collaboration also follows the launch of the SOM-COM-HPC-A-Dragonwing-IQ10 and the SBC-Dragonwing-IQ-2390.

By combining Seco hardware with Avocado OS, the companies aim to provide a validated platform for customers developing and deploying physical AI solutions at scale. Organizations already using Avocado OS can transfer their existing software stacks to the supported Seco Dragonwing platforms, reducing the effort required to adapt applications to new hardware.

The agreement also includes preferred support from both companies for customers selecting Seco systems with Avocado OS. Coordinated engineering assistance will cover hardware, board support packages (BSPs), and the operating system, helping address integration challenges across the software and hardware layers. This joint support model is intended to reduce deployment risks and shorten time-to-market for robotics and other industrial AI applications.

Through this collaboration, Seco and Peridio aim to give developers a more direct path from initial development to production-ready deployments on Qualcomm Dragonwing-based systems.
