Edwards’ Genesee Facility Enters Production, Bringing Dry Pump Manufacturing to the U.S.

Edwards Vacuum’s new 250,000-square-foot facility in Genesee County, N.Y., known internally as PC Genesee, has begun low-volume production, marking a shift away from relying solely on South Korea to supply dry vacuum pumps worldwide. “Our machine shop has begun production, so we’re going to be shipping our first parts to our service division next week,” said Dan Papsidero, general manager of PC Genesee.

The plant will start with iXL and iXM dry pumps early next year, with Ganymede production starting in mid-2027. Notably, it will not build Edwards’ long-running iXH pumps at all. “We’re going all in on Ganymede,” Papsidero said. Edwards says Ganymede cuts power consumption 50% to 60% versus legacy pumps, reduces nitrogen and cooling water use 20% to 25% and takes up 30% less space.

The LEED Silver, all-electric facility is powered primarily by hydroelectric energy, will start at 10,000 pumps a year, expandable to 20,000, and is expected to create about 280 jobs. Its location puts it within a few hours of Micron’s planned Syracuse-area complex and Intel’s Ohio fabs.
