Spotfire Puts AI Inside the Analysis for Yield Engineers

Semiconductor Digest

The AI boom shows up on both sides of Spotfire’s business. The companies making the chips behind AI data centers are Spotfire customers, and as they run their fabs flat out, they need faster decisions from their data. “Their business is going crazy, and that means they have even higher requirements for analytics and decision-making,” said Brad Hopper, vice president of vertical markets at Spotfire.

Hopper argues that the fab’s many specialized software tools create barriers to the cross-domain problem solving most yield issues require, such as relating metrology to electrical test or FDC to defect data. Spotfire positions itself as a decision layer above those tools, and Spotfire AI now combines conversational and agentic behavior: it can recommend an analytical method, run it, and help explain the results, while engineers add context the data doesn’t contain.

Spotfire’s latest quarterly update adds Ask Spotfire, a natural-language assistant arriving with Spotfire 15.1, Insight Agents and Skills, MCP support, AI governance controls and new semiconductor spatial capabilities. AI shortens the search and suggests where to look next, Hopper said, but the engineer still decides which thread to pull.
