Top 10 Vishay Dale Parts Every Hardware Engineer Should Know

Vishay Dale's catalog runs to thousands of SKUs, yet a small set of parts keep showing up in design after design. We recognize this list the moment a power-stage BOM lands on our desk. Whether it's a server PSU, an automotive ECU, or a medical device, these ten are the ones worth knowing cold.

1. WSL2512R0500FEA — The Industry Standard Current Sense Resistor

Type: Power Metal Strip® current sense resistor

Package: 2512

Value: 0.05 Ω, ±1%

Power: 1 W

TCR: ±75 ppm/°C

This is probably the single most ubiquitous current sense resistor in modern power electronics. It sits at the output of countless DC-DC converters, battery chargers, and motor drivers. The 0.05 Ω value gives you a clean 50 mV drop at 1 A, easy to pick up with a standard op-amp. Always keep a reel on your bench.

2. WSLP1206R0100FEA — High-Power Sense in a Small Package

Type: Power Metal Strip® high-power current sense resistor

Package: 1206

Value: 0.01 Ω, ±1%

Power: 1 W (WSLP enhanced)

TCR: ±110 ppm/°C

When you need to sense 10 A+ through a 1206 footprint, this is the go-to. The WSLP series dissipates more heat than the standard WSL through improved substrate and termination design. It's the natural pick for compact battery protection PCBs.

3. IHLP5050EZER100M01 — 10 µH Shielded Power Inductor

Type: IHLP® shielded inductor

Inductance: 10 µH ±20%

Saturation Current: 9 A

DCR: 14.75 mΩ typical

Height: 5.0 mm

The IHLP5050 is the sweet spot for point-of-load converters in the 1–5 A range. The shielded composite construction means you can place it next to sensitive analog circuitry without worrying about magnetic coupling. It takes high transient currents without hard saturation.

4. IHLP2020CZER1R0M01 — Compact 1 µH for Space-Constrained Designs

Type: IHLP® shielded inductor

Inductance: 1 µH ±20%

Saturation Current: 7.2 A

DCR: 12.5 mΩ typical

Package: 2020 (5.18 mm × 5.49 mm)

At just 2.0 mm profile, this inductor fits into tight consumer and portable designs. We usually reach for it as the output inductor on 3.3 V or 5 V buck converters in the 2–4 A range.

5. RH-50 10Ω — Chassis-Mount Power Resistor

Type: Aluminum-housed wirewound resistor

Power: 50 W

Resistance: 10 Ω ±5% (or custom values)

Mounting: Chassis mount with screw terminals

This is the workhorse for inrush current limiting, dynamic braking, and precharge circuits. The aluminum housing acts as a heat sink, allowing 50 W continuous dissipation when bolted to a metal chassis. For higher power, the RH-100 handles 100 W in the same form factor.

6. RS01A10R00FE12 — 1 W Wirewound for Pulse Applications

Type: Axial lead wirewound resistor

Power: 1 W

Resistance: 10 Ω ±1%

MIL Spec: MIL-PRF-26 qualified

When you need a resistor that survives repetitive pulse trains — snubbers, gate drive circuits, relay coil suppression — the RS series handles energy that would destroy a thick-film chip resistor. The 1 W rating is continuous; pulse power can far exceed this for short durations.

7. CRCW060310K0FKEA — General-Purpose Thick Film (Not Just Any Resistor)

Type: Thick film chip resistor

Package: 0603

Value: 10 kΩ ±1%

Power: 0.1 W

TCR: ±100 ppm/°C

Why does a generic 10 kΩ resistor make this list? Because Vishay Dale's CRCW series offers something cheap resistors don't: tight process control. Lot-to-lot consistency matters in high-volume production. The CRCW series wraps the thick-film element with a proprietary glass passivation that improves moisture resistance and long-term stability. For production BOMs, don't spec "any 0603 10k" — spec CRCW060310K0FKEA.

8. CRCW040200000Z0ED — Zero-Ohm Jumper with Known Quality

Type: Thick film jumper (zero ohm)

Package: 0402

Resistance: < 50 mΩ

Current Rating: 2 A

A zero-ohm jumper sounds trivial, but cheap jumpers have poorly controlled resistance and current limits. Vishay Dale's jumper series specifies a clear current rating and maximum resistance. Use this when your jumper BOM matters.

9. NTHS1206N01N1002JR — Automotive NTC Thermistor

Type: NTC thermistor

Package: 1206

Resistance: 10 kΩ at 25°C

Tolerance: ±5%

Beta (B25/85): 3977 K

Vishay Dale's NTHS series NTCs get specified a lot for temperature sensing in automotive and industrial work. The nickel barrier termination provides excellent solder joint reliability through thermal cycling. Stable and linear, with thorough documentation.

10. IM-4 100µH — Molded RF Inductor

Type: Axial molded inductor

Inductance: 100 µH ±5%

DC Resistance: 5.7 Ω typical

Self-Resonant Frequency: 11 MHz

The IM series molded inductors date back to the original Dale Electronics days. They still show up in RF tuning circuits, filters, and impedance matching networks where temperature stability and a predictable Q factor matter. If you're designing a radio that has to work the first time, these are the safe pick.

Sourcing Your Vishay Dale BOM

Many distributors carry the most common Vishay Dale values, but specialty or high-power parts (RH series, odd WSL values) often require a quote. Use partscubeglobal.com to check stock across suppliers, or upload a full BOM via BOM upload to get pricing on multiple line items at once.
