NPPC: The 0.100" Board-to-Board Workhorse

The NPPC series is the heart of the line — dual-row, 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch headers with female receptacles, all positions loaded, available in surface mount, through-hole and right-angle versions. Contact finish is gold flash on both mating and post surfaces, the housing is UL94 V-0 black, and the ratings are honest industry numbers: 3 A per contact at 250 V.

Position counts run from 10 (NPPC052, "CONN HDR 10POS 0.1 GOLD SMD") up to 80 (NPPC402), so a single family covers everything from a small mezzanine link to a full-width backplane-style connection. Temperature range depends on termination: −40 to +125°C for SMT versions, −40 to +105°C for through-hole. Several variants add board guides and pick-and-place features for automated assembly.

Where you will meet the NPPC family in the wild: PC/104-style board stacking, interposer boards in test equipment, and mezzanine links between controller and I/O boards in industrial controls. The push-pull fastening and gold contacts make them well suited to boards that get cycled during service — exactly the kind of connection you do not want to rework in the field. NPPN and the 2.00 mm Family

When board density demands 2.00 mm pitch, Sullins answers with the NPPN series of dual-row receptacles — for example the NPPN162FJFN-RC, a dual-row right-angle 32-position receptacle. The same build philosophy applies: stocked catalog geometry, gold contacts, and compatibility with standard 2.00 mm headers so you can mix sources between board revisions. If your design standard is 2 mm (common in compact industrial and networking boards), this family covers it without switching connector vendors. The mixing-sources point matters more than it looks: it is the difference between a board revision and a board re-layout.

Card Edge, IDC and Everything Else

Beyond headers, the catalog covers the full card edge range: standard, high-density, bi-level and dual-edge styles, plus press-fit terminations for plated-through-hole backplanes. Around that sit the supporting cast — IDC sockets for ribbon cable, wafers, and jumper assemblies. The -RC suffix: virtually all current catalog part numbers end in -RC, marking the RoHS-compliant version — filter for it when importing old schematics or mining legacy BOMs.
Availability: major catalog distributors (DigiKey among them) stock NPPC/NPPN parts in tubes, trays and reels, so engineering samples and production batches share the same part number.
Customization: because Sullins manufactures to order for volume, custom pin counts, plating thickness and post lengths are available — worth asking for when your design is locked but the board house is waiting.
